We'll enjoy beverages and treats as we learn "tips and tricks" from gardening experts Cindy and Cheryl. We'll also distribute the 2018 HGC Yearbooks.

Orchid expert Norm Selander-Carrier will  unlock the mysteries of these exotic blooms. The public is invited to join us for a fascinating topic.

Topic: History and Botanical Art with Carolyn Payzant

Accomplished botanical artist Carolyn Payzant will present How Botanical Art Mirrors History. This program is open to the public; please join us.

Topic: Mushrooms sprouting all over!

Local mushroom expert William Dunkerley wiill introduce us to "all things mushrooms" - how they grow, and how to find the tastiest ones. The public is cordially invited to this program.

Topic: Flower Garden Tour

Join us for a tour of Cheryl's beautiful flower gardens. We'll have a sandwich swap so bring one to share.  Carpool from St. Annes if possible.

Location: Cindy Lanouette's home

Topic: Waterside Garden Tours

 Join us for a "traveling feast" of garden tours. We'll meet at Cindy's house for a tour of her gardens, then enjoy a boat trip across Big Island Pond to visit Darlene's beautiful waterfront gardens. We'll also learn about the special challenges of lakeside gardening and how to get the best results.

 

August 15, Wednesday                                           Time: 6:00 pm (note early start time)

Location: Marie Somer's house

Topic: Farm Gardening

Join us at Marie's antique home in Chester for an informative tour of her flower, vegetable and aquaponic gardens. We'll also view her greenhouse, potting shed, cook shed and visit her animals, learning how she uses her own wool to create handmade weavings. We'll carpool from St. Anne's Church parking lot. 

 

September 19, Wednesday - Open to Public   Time: 7:00 pm

Topic: Fun with Succulents and Cactus with Art Scarpa

Former president of the Cactus and Succulent Society of Massachusetts Art Scarpa joins us to discuss cacti  and other succulents. He'll also answer our questions and share samples of these fascinating plants. This program is open to the public, so please join us.

Topic: Feed the Birds 

No tuppence required! Member Donna Waterman will lead us as we make decorative and functional bird food wreaths to use in our own back yards.

 

November 17, Saturday                                          Time: 10:00 am to 1:00 pm

Location: Hampstead Congregational Church, Hadley Hall

Topic: Deck the Halls

We'll gather to make and hang holiday decorations. The Deck the Halls Committee provides the greenery, decorations, and a sample of the creative design. Club members will assemble the wreaths and garlands, then hang them outside. Dress warmly for this fun indoor/outdoor event.

 

December 7, Friday                                  Time: 7:00 pm

Location: Sweet Baby Vineyards

Topic: Holiday Party 

Let's round off the year with our annual Holiday Party at Hampstead's very own local vineyard. Join us for food, wine and lots of fun.
